The National Pawnbrokers Association announced the Award winners for 2024-25 at our Awards Dinner at the Hilton, Tower Bridge, London on Friday 11th October. The winners were as follows;
President’s Award for Lifetime Achievement- Stephen Dexter, Fish Brothers Group Ltd
This accolade is only given to those who have excelled in helping or serving the NPA. Stephen Is the Chairman of the Fish Brothers Group, who are a 7th generation family run business founded in 1830. Stephen has been a Council member for many years and has held the position of the NPA President. Stephen is a member of the NPA Audit and Risk Committee and continues to support our members.
Best Store of the Year - New Bond Street Pawnbrokers
Detailed application submitted to the judging panel, evidencing continued improvements and results throughout the year. Increasing their online offering and great team work from their staff members.
Employer of the Year - Cash Converters (UK) Ltd
Expanding their business to include the corporate entity, they evidenced how they placed people at the centre of their business. From engagement, training, development and recognition.
Employee of the Year – Ashima Malhotra – Lewy Group
Ashima joined the business 15 years ago and only with her guidance, knowledge and determination has the business grown to the current levels of store numbers. Ashima was the compliance lead constantly striving to ensure customers came first, and the knowledge centre for all their stores.
Community Contribution - Ramsdens
Throughout the year Ramsdens have demonstrated how they support both local and national charities. It was evident that all the network actively take part and promote agreed charities. Charities included the Loose Coin scheme, which donated to over 100 charities. Give a Duck foundation 50 ducks purchased, food collections for hampers and Christmas gifts for disadvantaged families.

Student of the Year- Luke Fallon – Cash Exchange
This award is based on achieving top marks in the NPA’s Excellence in Pawnbroking Certification.
Watch Pledging Best Practice – H&T
H&T lead the field when it comes to requesting checks via the Watch Register. All stores have been trained to a high level in how to handle any “match” situations. Clients expectations are professionally handled and stores always provide detailed reports when required. H&T have checked thousands of items and prevented hundreds of products from being purchased.
Highly Commended – Miltons (Liverpool) Ltd.
Miltons joined the Watch Register at the very start and have been an advocate for many years. They are adept at spotting fake goods and fraudulent customers.
Charity
At the annual NPA Awards Dinner members raised £1980 for the Standing Tall Charity, the charity provides vital support for the most disadvantaged and vulnerable people in our society with mental health, addiction and wellbeing issues.
